show notes

Collaboration is king: Cloud is key

A recent discussion in the New Law Journal about collaboration technology in law firms and research by Deloitte provided inspiration for Mike for this segment. Hear him talk about what’s going on now and what the future looks like. Law firms need better collaboration to meet today’s business needs - but how? What kind of collaboration do firms need to do? How can firms customise their collaboration tools so that they work for them? How can collaboration happen effectively internally and externally, for both small and large teams? The guys talk about some NetDocuments features you might not have thought about using and there’s chat about group editing Microsoft Office365 documents plus ndSync providing flexible access for team working.

NetDocuments – not just for legal eagles

NetDocuments isn’t just for law firms - it’s relevant in any document intensive organisation. Mike explores an implementation for a professional services firm with heavy content management requirements. Accession is one of the largest not for profit health service providers in the US. Mike explores why they chose NetDocuments. The need to align across sites and offices, organise, secure, maintain and collaborate, creating a content ecosystem on the NetDocuments platform made sense. The mapping exercise was key and led to very successful implementation. They’ve since expanded NetDocuments across the organisation.

Listen to an informal discussion about the implementation and what Accession has achieved as a result.

The future’s bright for cloud document management

The big question with lots of opinions. What are the trends for the future? There’s discussion around the current drivers forCloud, for the few not yet adopting. Ubiquitous access, usability, and adaptability of what’s available are all discussed. The lines between technology roles are blurring and there’s a maturing of mobility and anytime anyplace working. How close are we to zero footprint workspace? Everyone has a theory but what’s Mike’s view? The guys also cover data loss prevention, digital rights management and information rights management in the Cloud. The growing need to track information as it moves around inside and outside the organisation - how will law firms accomplish this? Security needs are ever changing too, so they remain a constant top priority. Mike discusses all this plus the usual banter and curious facts - only Mike could find a story that includes Russians, a reindeer and a submarine, right?
